NTCA 5-Star Contractor ARTCRAFT GMT
to Participate in Show

The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has chosen the Maricopa County Home Show, September 30 - October 2, 2011 as its premiere consumer venue to unveil the “Tile Design & Installation Showcase.”

The NTCA is partnering
Artcraft Granite, Marble & Tile Company, an NTCA 5-Star Contractor and Arizona-based Interior Designer Annette Denham, who is well respected for her specialty talents in kitchen and bath design, to illustrate the synergy between intricate tile design, the highest quality tile installation and some of the newest products on the market from Daltile and Kohler.

Over the three-day show Denham’s vision for a classic traditional bathroom with contemporary overtones will progressively take shape thanks to the technical expertise and quality craftsmanship of the Artcraft Granite, Marble & Tile team.

Denham and Artcraft have been planning the event for several months now. It’s the kind of communication that takes place before any real-world project begins, to make sure the scope and details of the space are clearly defined and all of the technical issues are addressed.

From the moment the Maricopa County Home Show opens, the Artcraft team will begin installing glass, porcelain and stone tile.  At first, spectators will see just cement backerboard over wood framing, but over the course of the event, the space will come to life and homeowners will come to appreciate the many installation considerations that need to be melded with the designer’s vision. This weekend’s shower installation will be the first-phase of the five-phase project planned to take shape in a series of installations at the Maricopa County Home Shows.

Denham selected a variety of beautiful tiles from Daltile, integrating some of the manufacturer’s newest lines including a large-format replication of a vein-cut travertine in glazed porcelain, San Michelle; a gorgeous new iridescent glass tile, Calypso in a soothing spa green color that combines random glass tile sizes with unique textural finishes; a polished glass mosaic format as deco accents in Calypso; Nero, a fun, 3D contemporary travertine deco tile; traditional travertine pencil liners; as well as a traditional travertine chair rail to be installed with York, a beautiful carved travertine liner to create crown and base moldings; and a slate beehive pattern in Autumn mist combined with micro-pebble Solistone for the shower floor that invites a relaxing shower experience. Her discerning design blends diverse textures, sizes and materials, a juxtaposition of the new with the old… reinterpreted to masterfully create a sophisticated and soothing bath environment.

Artcraft will employ a number of techniques to install the various materials to the highest professional and industry standards illustrating how skilled craftsmen can create a project of lasting beauty.

The finishing touches will include Kohler’s Flipside turning hand shower and Refinia plumbing fixtures.

Artcraft Granite, Marble & Tile Co. provides industry expertise on new Stone Tile Installation Guide

May 2011
- The industry’s new Stone Tile Installation Guide, co-authored by the National Tile Contractor’s Association (NTCA) and the Tile Council of North America (TCNA), is generating a lot of discussion this spring.

Artcraft GMT’s Vice President James Woelfel is Chairman of the NTCA Technical Committee which spearheaded the development of the first-ever guide for stone tile installation.

The 2011 TCNA Handbook for Ceramic, Glass, and Stone Tile Installation is a guide to assist in clarifying and standardizing installation specifications for tile. Each installation recommendation, or method, requires a properly designed, constructed, and prepared substructure using materials and construction techniques that meet nationally recognized material and construction standards. It is the first time industry experts have established specific guidelines for natural stone tile installation, as recommended by the NTCA Technical Committee.

Following his presentation about the new guide at Coverings 2011, Woelfel is serving as a national and local resource to installers, designers and architects who are seeking guidance on the new industry specifications.

“It’s important for designers, architects and contractors to be aware of the industry standards and work with certified installers who understand the correct methods as well as the ramifications of not following industry standards,” explained Woelfel. “At Artcraft GMT, we are continually sought out to rectify the work of others who may have bid a job cheaper, but ultimately cost a contractor more than originally budgeted for due to a job failure.”

Tile and stone installation has been around for centuries, but technology has had a great impact on the methods and materials used in successful installations today. “Industry and consumer demands require tile and stone professionals to be knowledgeable in the advancements being made in our industry,” said Woelfel. “The Stone Tile Installation Guide is the first time standards for natural stone tile have been codified in a comprehensive form to meet the demands of today’s marketplace.”

Woelfel is currently conducting presentations for professional CEU’s for associations and product manufacturers as well as giving informational sessions upon request. For more information, contact: artcraftgmt@gmail.com

Artcraft GMT Wins National Award

for Installation Excellence

Mesa, AZ Company also recognized for excellence in craftsmanship
at premier Coverings 2010 Installation Showcase

May 3, 2010 (Orlando, FL, USA) - Artcraft Granite, Marble and Tile Company is the recipient of a prestigious Tileletter Award for Installation Excellence in a commercial setting.  It is the second time Artcraft has been nationally recognized for commercial projects by the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA).  Artcraft is the only contractor in the nation to win installation awards for both commercial and residential projects.

The project for which Artcraft is being
recognized this year, is the the Arizona School for the Arts in downtown Phoenix.  There, Artcraft installed four bathrooms that the judges noted were as close to perfection as possible.

Criteria for judging these awards are strongly weighted towards installation challenges and obstacles encountered by the contractor and innovative solutions to these challenges and obstacles. Artistry, prestigious location and design are secondary to installation criteria in judging these awards.

"We have a strong team of dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence in our trade, "said
James Woelfel, Vice President of Artcraft GMT. "We have a respect for the expertise that each member
of the team contributes to the overall success of the work we do for our clients.  We are thrilled to receive this honor."

The Tileletter Awards were presented at Coverings 2010 in Orlando, Florida on April 30, 2010.
