John Otto Woelfel founded Artcraft Tile Company in 1936 in El Paso, Texas. Justin "Butch" Woelfel took the reins of the company in 1978 and with son, James Woelfel, grew the business into what is now Artcraft Granite, Marble & Tile Company. James opened the Phoenix office in 1998.

President and chief estimator Butch Woelfel is a second-generation tile and stone craftsman with more than 50 years of industry experience. He is past president and chairman of the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), the largest and most respected tile contactors association in the world, and served on the NTCA Technical Committee for 25 years. Butch was named NTCA's 1993 Tile Person of the Year, and received the industry's prestigious lifetime achievement award in 2007 when he was inducted into the NTCA's Ring of Honor.

James Woelfel, vice president and estimator, chairs the NTCA Technical Committee, which establishes industry standards for tile and stone installation in the United States. He represents NTCA on the TCNA Handbook Committee, and serves on the ANSI ASC 108 Committee, making Artcraft Granite Marble & Tile Company one of two contractors worldwide to sit on all three committees. James has a bachelor of science degree from New Mexico State University.
